Delve into middle earth with this one of a kind book set.
Three fore-edges have been painted, each depicting a magnificent scene from the books.
Each book is placed between two wooden boards and clamped down to be immovable. The pressure from the clamps makes the edges of the book become a workable surface and does not allow the watercolor paint to seep onto the pages of the book. I chose those 3 images as they were pivotal scenes and some of her favorites. We are shown beautiful Rivendell after Frodo narrowly escapes death with the aid of the elves, in particularly Arwen. Samwise Gamgee is holding Mr. Frodo on the side of Mount Doom trying to complete the last task given to the fellowship, the destruction of the One Ring. The last scene is right before the ring is melted in the lava of Mount Doom.
All the edges are painted with professional grade, non-fugitive watercolors. They are then double sealed with a matte finish spray and wax varnish to have the paintings last.
This set includes The Hobbit, The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King.
ISBN: 9780618002252 This specific paperback edition was printed in 1994 and comes with the box shown. Please note that they were previously loved before given new life. Wear and tear on used copies are normal. This particular set has "From the library of Stanley P. Walker" stickers on the front inside covers of all 4 books. Stickers can be removed by gently heating it up and carefully removing them if you so desire.
While these books are indeed double sealed, they are best used as decorative. They can be handled (which is why they are double sealed) however the painting might deteriorate from excessive handling.
