Paddling along the rivers and lakes in my home state, I would encounter lily pads and water lilies often. Their gentle demeanor and bright pops of color are what inspired this piece.

9 x 12 (22.9 x 30.5 cm) on 140 lb (300 gsm) 100% cotton paper. Professional non-fugitive watercolor paints were used: brands include Holbein Watercolor, Daniel Smith Extra Fine Watercolors and Zecchi Toscana Watercolors. Once completed, a wax medium is spread across the whole painting as a varnish to further protect it.
